My name is Rachelle and I'm the new owner of New Country Spirit! I'm very excited about this new direction I'm taking in life and forever grateful and humbled that my Auntie Wendy offered me the gig. I wanted to write this blog post so you can get to know me a bit better since most of you have no idea who I am and I'm sure the change came out of left field for a lot of you. Before I start I must disclose that I'm not a writer so please forgive the punctuation mistakes and lack of fancy descriptive words.
I've been following my Aunt's endeavor to start New Country Spirit right from the start, I even helped her
with some social media and merchandising tips along the way. What I love most about my Aunt is that she is so open and puts so much love into everything she does, even by just being my Aunt. We live across the country from each other but have always remained close. I look at her as kind of my kindred spirit and one of my role models, I don't think she knows that but now she does! I think what I admire most is that she started something from scratch and went for it, it really takes a lot of guts to do that. So to my Auntie Wendy I love you and I'm so grateful you believe in me. (Picture above: Auntie Wendy and my Mom, can you tell them apart??)
Why she chose me I have no idea...haha ok maybe I'm not giving myself enough credit but the reason I said yes when she asked me is because this is sincerely something I've been wanting to do for a while, start my own retail business. I've worked with large companies as a Field Merchandiser to being a Regional Manager. I loved helping businesses develop and thrive but I never truly felt like being in the corporate world was a good fit for me, I'm sure some of you can relate. I was going through a bit of an identity crisis not fully loving what I did and when you spend a lot of your life working I feel it's important to love what you do. I grew up in BC in a region called the Fraser Valley on a raspberry farm. I wish I got the experience of working with animals but instead I had to settle for an unlimited supply of my mom's jam...poor me ;). Once I turned 18 I moved out and eventually made my way to Vancouver where I've been living off and on for 14 years. You'll often find me spending time with my friends and family, going on hikes, camping or just spending time with my dog Jack. I often say I'm a little bit country and a little bit city (no not rock and roll sorry). I'm so glad I get to portray this identity and showcase my experience with NCS.
Well here I am now starting my own business, not from scratch but giving it a slightly different direction. I shouldn't say different because it's going to remain true to what my Aunt started in a lot of respects ie working with the same ambassadors and it will remain true to its' country roots however I do have some great new vendors on board to help take it in a new direction, here's a hint, you may see some clothing and home goods soon! ;) I plan to have the brand shift to more of an outdoorsy/adventure theme while keeping it's country flair and want to make NCS a one stop shop for people. I have some exciting new vendors lined up and can't wait to share them all with you. I'm so excited about the direction NCS is taking and hope you are too! Thanks for reading my lengthy post and if you have any questions for me please feel free to reach out anytime.
Talk to you all soon and Happy Holidays!
